Getting the Darwin locals revved up about the event.

This is a scan of the original "Special Pass". From memory the "Special Pass" allowed us access to an area in between the return lane of the drag strip and the actual drag strip itself. Hidden Valley Motor Sports Complex consisted of a Drag Strip, and a Speedway circuit.

The following was the first time we had seen all the cars together. Most people had seen the cars as they drove around Darwin city. We remember it being a competition of mates, to see who had spotted the hottest car of the day.

Living in the safety conscious world we live in now, it would seem a bit weird to be able to take the photos we have from where we have taken them. You will notice that people are walking across the return lane of the drag strip with out anyone from security, or the Darwin Motor Sports Complex supervising. No one was hurt, we had something back then called "common sense" Safety was not of paramount concern on this day.
